Joint Pain - Early Treatments Can Prevent Other Disorders

It has been medically ascertained that the autoimmune syndrome known as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or SLE is just one of the many cases of joint pain. By being autoimmune, the body has become over-active in fighting-off unknown harmful substances. It has come to a point that it can no longer differentiate the harmful organisms from the healthy cells and tissues. In this condition the body's muscles are not spared from such attacks. Muscles and tendons are so inflamed that it causes a compression on the ball and socket joints. Thus the SLE sufferer has to deal with the presence of both joint pain as well as muscle pain. Fortunately, relief from such aches can be addressed by intakes of well-tolerated medications such as aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen and saliscylate.

Nevertheless, SLE may not always be the cause for muscle or joint pain. Studies found that thyroid diseases affect the body's skeletal muscles. Muscles such as biceps and quadriceps are examples of skeletal muscles that are connected to the bone. The thyroid disorder brings about an abnormality in the levels of certain biochemical substances that accumulate in the muscles. Build-up will now result to muscle inflammation. The swelling presses on the joints and nerves, subsequently leading to joint pain as well as muscle pain. This condition however can be resolved by maintaining the thyroid hormone to a normal degree.

The other causes of joint pain are brought about by the body's natural response to conditions such as old age and over-fatigue. Some medical experts opine that joints and muscle pains may precede other diseases. Hence it is also their opinion that treatments should be done at an early stage. Medical consultations provide the best recommendation of treatments and therapies. Proper dietary intake for one is included in a physician's prescription. This may be listed as the types of food that can supply the vitamins and minerals needed to strengthen the muscles and bones. Reinforcement of these body parts can prevent early erosions as we tend to constantly use them beyond their natural limits. In other cases, diet is prescribed for a weight-loss program. Joints and muscles are also affected by the body weight an individual has to carry. Naturally an obese or over-weight person applies a daily dose of stress on his thighs, knees, legs and ankles where joints and muscles are located. Hence, reductions in body weight help relieve the occurrence of joint pain.

Rest is an opportunity for the body to engage in self-repair of muscles and bones and is often a part of any doctor's recommendation to alleviate joint pain. Medical evaluations as to the length of recuperative rest necessary can provide positive results that last longer. However, it is not uncommon for a doctor to implement exercise routines while under his treatment. His implementation of course comes with a warning of exercising with care so as not to aggravate the distressed muscles and joints. Treating joint pain immediately is a major step in preventing it from becoming worse.
